Comparison between Convergent and Divergent Evolution
During Divergent Evolution new species are created from the same ancestor as individuals accumulate the same traits and become separate and distinct from the original species. This is completely different from Convergent evolution where species become similar over time based upon common positions in the environment. These species become specialized in the environment and thus across the world, given a similar environment, the species will have similar attributes. The two evolution's are not similar since they are not based upon the same ancestor. However, the traits or attributes they develop during the evolution can be similar given a similar environment.
